After a special season in 2013, Timberland returns a veteran team this year with a solid senior class.

Last year, the Wolves finished with a 10-3 mark, went 5-0 in Region 7-AA and advanced to the Class AA Lower State finals before falling to Dillon, 14-0.

In 2014, Timberland hopes to improve on its 1-7 playoff record against Dillon by scheduling a tougher pre-region schedule. The Wolves open against Hanahan and follow with Crestwood, Cross, Bishop England and Berkeley.

Ryan Hood resumes his place under center, after splitting time the last two seasons with Matt Gabel. According to Craig, Hood has matured and stands ready to lead the team.

"Ryan's our guy this fall," he said. "He's thrown the ball really well this summer."

As always though, the foundation of Timberland's success is in the trenches and this year the Wolves have size and depth inside.

Fresh off his commitment to Newberry, tight end Wyatt Craig provides size and nimble hands on the line, and is fully recovered from a broken collarbone that cut short his 2013 season.

"Wyatt's completely healthy and put on about twenty pounds due to the inactivity with the broken collarbone," his father and coach said. "He's now transferred that weight into muscle."

Craig also mentioned Johnell Brown as being key to his team's success on both sides of the ball this fall.

"He catches the ball on offense and stops the run on the defensive line. Johnell is a complete football player," Craig said.

Running back Daniel Robinson, just a junior, has drawn some comparisons to former Berkeley High standout Bruce Ellington.

"Daniel's a smart kid so he's been involved with some academic events over the summer and we haven't had him out here as much as we would like," Craig said. "But he'll be right up front as the guy to watch."

very quickly come fall."

Timberland opens the season on Aug. 29 against Hanahan.
